Golden Beach is an ideal location to holiday on the coast, the Gippsland Lakes and the Gippsland area more generally. Often when people are staying at the Gippsland Lakes they limit themselves to enjoying that one (magnificent) feature of the area. By staying at Golden Beach visitors can enjoy the amazing 90 Mile Beach AND be staying very close to the Gippsland Lakes. So close to the lakes in fact that from the driveway of 90 Mile Beach House and Villas you can be launching a boat into the Gippsland lakes within 15 minutes.

• A 3 hour drive from the Melbourne CBD and exactly half way along 90 Mile Beach in Gippsland Victoria, Australia. 

The town centre of Golden Beach is accessed via the Longford - Golden Beach Road which crosses the usually dry “Lake Reeve”. After crossing the lake, the road becomes known as Surf Edge Drive (but your GPS will still use the formal name) and opens up into a wide boulevard with a central strip of grass and beautiful Norfolk Island pine trees.  That is where you will find us!

Ninety Mile Beach House + Villas is located on the left side of the road as you drive into town.  You will see the small sail boat out the front.

Golden Beach, Gippsland.

Golden Beach is a largely undiscovered coastal holiday hamlet located half way along Ninety Mile Beach with miles of secluded beach in both directions as far as the eye can see. It adjoins Paradise Beach and is surrounded by coastal, state and  national parks plus the famous 400 square kilometers of Gippsland Lakes - the largest inland waterway in Australia!

Six Kilometres from Golden Beach Township lays The Trinculo Shipwreck. The barque Trinculo weighed 318 tons and was built 1858 measuring 138.1 feet. It was forced ashore by a gale in 1879. The ship struck a sandbar 30 Metres from shore and slewed broadside to the beach. Luckily all on board survived after the heroic efforts of the crew. Also surviving to this day is the wreck which is best seen after king tides have removed lots of sand!

Now, don’t get us wrong, we think Apollo Bay is a lovely place BUT if we were choosing a VIC coastal winter escape (25 minutes-drive difference)…compare these weather facts:

Apollo Bay - 162.5 rainy days per year :: Golden Beach - 142 
Golden Beach also enjoys higher average year round temperatures than Apollo Bay. 
We know, it’s unfair… dryer, sunnier, warmer. Sorry Apollo Bay! Golden Beach may be your poor cousin... but it's the hot one.
